Description
Baron Byng High School, from1922 through the 1970's was a beloved institution that spawned some of the greatest minds and most brilliant achievers that Montreal can boast, the stuff of dreams and nostalgic memories, thinly disguised as "Fletchers Field High" in Mordecai Richlers novel, Duddy Kravitz, a beacon of learning in a plain brick building,my alma mater, and that of my mother and uncle as well. Located at 4251 St. Urbain Street, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, it was named after war hero and Governor General, Julian Hedworth George Byng, 1st Viscount Byng of Vimy, Today the school is home to the non-profit community organization Sun Youth (Jeunesse au soleil).
I am a painter, a story teller in oils on canvas,an art educator,a proud graduate of Byng in 1965, then Ecole Des Beaux Arts and McGill, who for over 40 years has documented and archived the streets, shops and landmarks of Montreal. I pay hommage to my beloved school, to Francis Katz my English Teacher who thought I was a pretty good writer!!
All my work is available here as prints on canvas, framed prints, posters and cards
