The New Tasty Bagel Bakery was located at 33 Kensington Ave in Toronto in the 1970`s.It was my honor to paint this vintage scene as a commission. I found the Victorian style buildings so unique and artful and I enjoyed painting this vintage scene . Working from black and white photos which my client provided, I envisioned all the color notes and color values and overall design concept required to bring this street back to life. i imagined neighborhood boys playing stick ball hockey in the lane, a customer entering the busy bagel shop and a local girl walking her bike along the street. I just loved the little beetle car and decided to paint it blue. I added many personal touches such as the window boxes and the busy bakers making their delicious bagels, cakes and other Jewish baked goods.
