As kids, we cherished long summer days but winter was also a lot of fun. We never wanted to go inside, we loved watching the neighborhood boys play street hockey after school. My mom could always get us to come inside to dry off our wet mittens by bribing us with grilled cheese and tomato soup. This painting of Marven and Jerry`s corner store has brought back so many wonderful memories. As I signed this canvas, I hated to leave this painting. Some works are like that, meaningful, emotional, a story-telling slice of life, a moment in time.
As an artist, I paint from the heart, not just what I surround me today, but what I remember and how I felt at the time. If you lived in a great community like Park Ex in the 50`s and 60`s, you and i share the same Montreal memories, Life was marvelous, winter wonderland especially around Christmas. Happy wishes to all who celebrate and cherish that evergreen home town memories.
